“He is Independent, a potential leader, prideful, perfectionist, self justifying, curious, partially reckless, wishes to know all yet is close minded.”
“He comes from a high-end family and is doing well in the human society and its learning requirements. He says he believes in the religion Christianity; however he couldn’t care less about having a religion.”
“You know that his anima is doomed to a fogged mirror.”
“Yes, I do, but I am unsure if we should…”
“We haven’t done it on this world in forever; we should start it up again.”
“The organisms of this world won’t believe his story; they are naïve and haven’t developed their knowledge of mirrors enough to truly let their anima shine through.”
“He could return a prophet from our test and bring the blind to the light.”
“We have seen it an infinite amount of times, Rhea, and have tried in an infinite amount of times and have had it fail an infinite amount of time.”
“We have also had it succeed an infinite amount of times, Pan, less you not forget.”
“The limitlessness of all the possibilities is well known to me; let’s go through with it then. When will the agents be ready?”
“When the boy will come, our agents will be ready. Josh will have the Guardians take care of it also.”
“Then let’s see how it turns out.”
Aeneas got up from his desk as the bell rang while the teacher was rushing to tell the class, which was now emptying out of the classroom, their homework. With his last class of the school week completed, Aeneas went straight to his car to beat the rush that was to come as always and that would clog the driveways out of the school. He had to do this because he had to go to a dentist appointment at 3:30pm (it was 2:55pm now) and the drive to the dentist office would take at least half an hour; and with his parking spot he would have to wait for at least ten minutes to get out if he got stuck in the mess, therefore making him late for the appointment. With his perfectionist standards it would drive him crazy not to be there on time.
As he drove out onto the road he followed it until he came to a strip mall, of which he pulled into the parking lot of. He then pulled his GPS out of the glove compartment and imputed the address his mom gave him. He suction cupped it onto his window and started following the directions fed to him. His mom told him that the dentist moved to a new location south of his school, hence why he had to use a GPS.
He drove for about 15 minutes when he saw the GPS start to flicker. He had this happen to him a few instances before (it was a rather old GPS) and all he had to do to fix it, as he found out, was just turn it off and then back on. After he did this he had to plug the address back in again and he would be fine for the rest of his trip.
He arrived at the dentist’s office about 10 minutes earlier than what his mom told him it would take. However, his mom was a slow (or bad as he would like to say) driver and would often make a trip take up to twice as long. He walked into the building and asked the receptionist who was staring at and working with the computer in front of her, “Excuse me, miss, could you tell me where Doctor Arnold’s office is?”
“Sure”, she responded without averting her gaze, “His office is on the third floor with the door number 305.”
“Hmm, from the outside, this building didn’t look like it had three floors.”
“Yeah, we get that a lot.”
“Thanks for the help,” finished Aeneas.
“No problem.”
Aeneas walked over to the elevator and pushed the “up” button. As he waited for the elevator, he watched the receptionist who still hasn’t taken her eyes from the computer screen. He then saw her look at him just as the elevator doors opened. He instantly looked away and went into the elevator and pushed the floor 3 button. Standing there, he had an uneven feeling about the split second he got a look at the receptionist’s eyes, they sort of looked like cat eyes. However he didn’t get much of a look to make himself completely sure, it could of have just been the light.
The door opened as he arrived at his floor and he found his way to his dentist’s office which was conveniently opposite to the elevator doors. The sign to the left of the door read, Dr. Theodore Arnold – Dentistry – 305. He opened the door and found himself in a waiting room with a secretary to his left and paintings on the walls that he recognized from the old office. He walked up to the secretary who didn’t move her gaze away from the computer screen. “You must be the 3:30 appointment. Aeneas Cade Jr., right?”
“Yes, the one and only.”
“Well I don’t know about that. What’s your phone number?”
“970-361-5504”
“Okay, the doctor will see you in room 305c at the end of the hallway to your right.”
“Thanks.”
Walking down the hallway, he found the room. He opened the door and walked in letting the spring hinged door shut behind him with a moderate bang. In the room was one of the reclinable dentist chairs, a set up of upper wall cabinets with a sink below them parallel to the wall with the door on it. Along the wall perpendicular to that was a row of three chairs under a magazine holder centered above them. He walked over to the magazine holder and examined what was in it. To his surprise, as he looked through one of the family magazines, he discovered it to be empty with only white pages. He found this weird, but didn’t care for it much, since the dentist would most likely give a reason as to why when he came in.
Aeneas waited for around ten minutes before starting to wonder where the doctor was. Waiting for an additional five minutes, he decided he would go to the secretary and ask where his dentist, or at least an assistant, was. However, when he tried to open the door, he found it to be firmly locked. He tried jiggling the handle but it didn’t budge. He looked out into the hallway through the small window to see nothing but pitch black darkness. Not even the light from the room was seen on the floor. He took out his phone so he could call the front desk with the number his mom gave him only to discover that he had no service. He was trying to keep calm when he saw outside the window three pairs of cat-like eyes glowing a dark purple. He stepped back from the door’s side window and then looked back through it to see the eyes just staring at him. He kept staring until the lights in his room went dark, causing him to turn around and see what caused it. Lowering himself to the floor with his back against the wall to the side of the door, he closed his eyes so that he wouldn’t have to stare blindly into the darkness.
He stayed this way hoping he would just wake up from a bad dream, but it wasn’t a dream and he couldn’t wake up from it. What seemed like an eternity to him was only seconds in the silence when he realized he could use his cell phone as a flash light. He flipped it open to see the room in the dim light looking nearly the same as it was when the lights had been on, yet it had one difference. There seemed to be a black orb in the center of the room floating above the chair. He sat and watched it, wondering what it was eventually he decided upon touching the ball. Yet he didn’t know if it was dangerous or not so he took one of the chairs in his hand and touched one of the legs to the ball only to have the entire chair ripped from his hands. This caused him to drop his phone and have its battery pop out from the shock of hitting the floor. He was now without light again with near impossible means of recovering it.
Yet he was not in darkness for long. The solid black orb slowly started to gain a faint light blue luminosity around its corners which seemed to mimic that of a solar eclipse. Then Aeneas noticed the orb start to enlarge in size. Not risking the chance that this newly transformed orb might not act with the same destructive capabilities as the old version, he tried to shake the door open, but it was like it was no longer a door but more a part of the wall. He was trapped.
He moved to a corner in the room, watching the orb pull in the dentist’s chair into it as it grew more in size. He watched as the orb pulled in the magazines, the chairs, the cabinets, the sink, and the flow of water from the pipes connected to the sink. Soon enough the orb would reach Aeneas and he would be obliterated. He waited until it came in contact with him and, in a blink of an eye, it dragged him into eternal darkness once again.
