Most people see gods as almighty, unkillable, unmatched in power, etc. However, the Gods in Valiu are none like this. They are indeed powerful and immortal, but they can be killed. God is a loosely used word.
How They Came to Be
Gods were created and destroyed during the creation of the Universe. They were educated and taught the rules of the world, but not how it worked. Each God was given the power to create copies of themselves in the earth. They each practiced making them, but sometimes they majorly screwed up. Sometimes their creation was misshapen and grotesque. But the Gods did not taught how to destroy, so they sealed these monstrosities in caves and caverns. These primordial beasts evolved in these conditions and some were corrupted by an unknown source. Some gods got tired of raising their races populations up, so they created larger versions of their creations and encrusted within them the power to create. The gods named these their children, they are also known as demi-gods. Their populations eventually became self-dependent and the gods taught them all that they remembered. The new creatures followed the taught teachings of their creators and worshiped them. Most of the creatures evolved into new ones and forgot the teachings of the gods. Soon the new creatures forgot all the teachings of the Gods.
Footnote: Those that are sealed in caves and caverns have their spirits twisted from being rejected. When a creature was created, earth and water was formed together via magic to form the creature. Then the creating god called down a spirit into the newly formed object. The spirit worked inside the object to mimic the creature's wanted image. Soon the mud turned to flesh and the water to blood and the creature came to life. The spirit was fused to the creature by this process and remains there. The may speak to the creature through dreams and is considered the life force of the creature. When a spirit is freed from a body, the body falls lifeless. This means that bodies are now dependent on spirits. When a new body is made through mating, the spirit of the mother's spirit calls a spirit who willingly accepts to being the child's spirit. But if the spirit finds the child to be wicked, it abandons the body, when it is not attached to the body. However, the child is not doomed. The twisted spirit of the rejected can find its way into the child's body when its previous body dies.
What Power Gods Have
The power of all the gods equal nothing to their creators. Their power is very great however. They can:
-Bless those of other gods with their power when shown great loyalty.
-Create more of their own through ritual.
-Cast ancient spells unknown to new races.
-Channel magic passively and effectively.
-See through the eyes of their creation. Even those rejected.
-Feel what their creation feels. Even those rejected.
Footnotes: Gods may bless another race, but this race is no longer the race it was before. It changes to that of who it was blessed by. However, the blessed may keep its regular form. Ancient spells are very powerful spells that most immortals don't even know. Channeling magic passively acts the same way a beacon channels magic. The magic channeled can be tapped by any creature near a God. The god can instant tap into this source, giving it the power to cast these ancient spells. Although the Gods may see and feel their rejected ones, it doesn't mean they ignore these sights and feelings. Most of the time they use magic to block this effect.
Dieing Gods
Gods may be immortal, but they can still die. Dieing gods are a rare event and causes an entire species to be weakened. Most gods do not die entirely, only their physical form dies. Most gods remain as spirits, guiding their creation on through prophets and oracles. These Gods usually died by demons when they first fell to Valiu. The demons had the power of the gods creators. So in anger, they killed any living creature they came upon, but they could not kill spirits. Weakened Gods' bodies still channel magic and never decay. Some maniacs of the race steel power parts to make powerful magical items. Some find this as disrespectful, but the Gods do not care what their material body becomes after they die.
Footnotes: A demon is a corrupted angel. None know of how an angel can become corrupt, but it happened by means of extreme isolation. Many spirits become attached to their earthly vassal. They soon gain exact personalities of them. When one dies, the spirit retains all the bodies memories and complete personality. Sometimes the spirit enters one of its vassal's family.
